LOWER MOOR TROUT FISHERY – WILTSHIRE
Situated North of Junction 17 M4..near Oaksey. 3 lakes. .Lower Moor Fishery, Oaksey Malmesbury, Wiltshire SN16 9TW. Forty acres of excellent trout fishing on two lakes: Mallard Lake (34 acres), any kind of fly fishing, stocked rainbow and brown; Cottage Lake (8 acres) confined to nymph and dry fly on floating line. Dt £20 or 12 (4 and 2 fish limits). Fine fly hatch, exceptional mayfly and damsel. Fantastic Fly Fishing on 40 acres of crystal clear water with superb fly life especially well-known for the mayfly and damsel hatches. Regularly stocked with lively, free-rising fish. Instruction and tackle available by prior arrangement. Corporate days can be arranged

This is one of my all time favourite Trout fisheries. Lower Moor has consistenly provided great sport and always a full bag limit. A fine grown on Brown Trout caught during the summer months at Lower Moor (Left) in Mallard Lake.
Between the bank of “Mallard” lake and the island the lake bed falls away steeply and quite a few “monster” fish have been tempted but as yet I am still to catch one of Lower Moors Giants!
A Favourite spot on “Mallard” 25 acre lake(furthest fisherman you can see) You have to wade out to the island but well worth the effort as you’re right in the middle of the action at what seems all times during the day!
This is another favourite sport on the smaller “Cottage” lake. Many of these Rainbow Trout have fallen to my own variation called the “Wiggle Nymph” or as a collegue calls it the “Surrey Certain”!..I wonder why?
